Sepsis Training Aims & Objectives

To increase healthcare professionals' knowledge of the pathophysiology, epidemiology, and risk factors associated with sepsis, enabling them to recognise the condition and provide timely and appropriate care
To provide evidence-based guidance on how to assess and manage patients with sepsis, including appropriate treatment options, fluid resuscitation, and supportive care, in a range of clinical settings
To promote best practices for sepsis prevention and early recognition, including the use of established tools such as NEWS2 and other clinical decision support systems, in order to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with this life-threatening condition

Sepsis Training Session Outline

Define sepsis, its pathogenesis, and epidemiology
Evaluate risk reduction and prevention strategies, including early recognition and treatment
Analyse the pathophysiology of sepsis, including its effects on different organ systems
Recognise the causes, symptoms, and treatments, including the use of scoring systems
Explain the importance of holistic care for patients with sepsis, including strategies for addressing psychological and social needs
Discuss the concept of post-sepsis syndrome, including its physical and psychological manifestations and management strategies
